Mercury Retrograde!!!

Published by cwilliams under chit chat

I have a bit of astrology for you and some venting!! Well mercury retrograde started on May 26, 2008 at 3:43 pm GMT and will last until June 19 2008 2:28 pm GMT. This happens at least 3 times a year, last at least 3 weeks.

Retrograde Mercury is the most commonly known astrological signature for Murphy’s Law (”If something can go wrong, it will”).

Computers crash, software develops unexpected glitches, traffic jams ensue, telephone service snarls up, letters get lost in the mail, machinery breaks down, new projects fail. Ah, yes, the trickster Mercury is up to his old pranks again. In fact, at least three times a year for about three weeks each time Mercury has his way with us.

Well let me tell you it has for me…..first it was my van/car the shift cable went out $321.79 later that was Monday June 2nd . Then on Monday June 9th my computer was making this crazy noise when I turned it on…..like it was going to take flight, not a good thing, $170.00 later and a new power supply fan! Then on Wednesday June 11th when I got home from work I went into my bedroom to make the bed….I can’t sleep unless it is nice and neat….weird I know! Anyhoo I got a room air conditioner a few years ago, I have terrible hot flashes and I sleep so much better if the room is very cold…..needless to say the air conditioner was on longer working……so today I went and bought a new one $176.24 and my hubby took out the old and put in the new!! I think this mercury is also messing with my creative mojo, everything I try to make ends up in the trash pile, ugh! I am hoping that tomorrow is a better day and that nothing else goes wrong in the next 7 days……crap tomorrow is Friday the 13th, I may just stay in bed!!!

With only a small amount foresight here are the precautions you can take to prevent colossal screw-ups in your life during the next Mercury retrograde:

  • If at all possible, avoid signing legal documents.
  • If at all possible, finish projects which involve communication before the retrograde.
  • If at all possible, avoid closing big deals during the retrograde
  • If at all possible, avoid launching new projects during the retrograde
  • If at all possible, avoid scheduling meetings to make a big decision
  • Allow extra time when traveling
  • Backup your hard drive before the retrograde
  • If at all possible, avoid installing new computer software during the retrograde
  • Do needed repairs on machinery before the retrograde

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a marvelous day!!

This week’s Challenge is Paint- watercolor, acrylic, crackle paint. Just some sort of paint on your card or project.

As you can see I used some crackle paint, I just painted onto a piece of card stock and used it as a layer. I used the Fiskars Threading Water Border Punch at the bottom, added some rhinestones for some bling. The image is colored in with my Copic markers and Spica glitter pens. I masked the image with eclipse tape and airbrushed around the image. I added glossy accents to the cut open peach to give it that wet look of a nice juicy peach…… yummy!!

Here you can see the sparkle and the gloss on the peaches!

**Celebrate**

Rose-2

Hi everyone, today is the day……..Rubbernecker Stamp Co…. is releasing the Jeanne Streiff Collection. Yeah for Miss Jeanne, you rock girl!! There is a total of 9 new red rubber mounted on cling foam images that Miss Jeanne herself designed for Rubbernecker Stamp Co… These new images are flowers and flourishes which are a couple of my favorite images to stamp with, who doesn’t like flowers and flourishes!!

These images have so many possibilities, my favorite right now is using markers direct to rubber, lightly misting the image with water and stamping on to card stock. On this one I used SU certainly celery and tempting turquoise markers to coordinate with the DP by DCWV the all dressed up stack, this paper is fabulous…… a lot of it already has the glitter on it….gotta love that!! The flower image is also outlined with my Copic Spica silver glitter pen. The circle and scallop circle are made with my nestabilities. The corners are made with a 1/2 circle punch, then cut to fit the card base. I adhered a clear rhinestone to each corner. The sentiment is a pre-made chipboard, can’t remember by who. I did add the clear rhinestones to the chipboard. The ribbon is black satin. The scallop circle is popped up with black foam dimensional boosters. Be sure to check out the new images at Rubbernecker Stamp Co.

Rose-3

I took a photo at this angle so you can see the silver glitter outlining the flower image.

Rose-1

{Flora Rose Ingredients}
Stamps: Rubbernecker New Images Jeanne Streiff Collection, Flora & Flairs, Stylish Flourish.
Paper: PTI White, Black, Certainly Celery, DCWV All Dressed Up Stack.
Accessories: SU Certainly Celery & Tempting Turquoise Markers, Copic Spica Silver Glitter Pen, 1/2 Circle Punch, Clear Rhinestones, Chipboard Sentiment, Nestabilities Circle & Scallop Circle, Water Misting Bottle, Black Foam Dimensional Boosters.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a marvelous rest of the week as I probably won’t get much time to blog/create until Sunday, my day job always gets in the way of stamping fun!!
